Influence on modern practice
Ajmal Khan's laboratories produced the Rauwolfia alkaloid work that led to reserpine, the first widely used antihypertensive and an early antipsychotic — a direct traditional-to-pharmaceutical translation. His colleges remain the institutional base of Unani medicine in India, now regulated under the Ministry of Ayush.
