Her data was shown to Watson and Crick without her knowledge. She died of ovarian cancer at 37, four years before their Nobel.

Her case reshaped scientific norms on credit and data-sharing and is taught in research-ethics courses everywhere. The European Space Agency's Mars rover, the Rosalind Franklin, carries her name.
