The Chandrasekhar limit is why Type Ia supernovae detonate at a consistent brightness — which is how astronomers measured cosmic acceleration and inferred dark energy, the biggest open problem in physics. NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, which images black holes and hot gas across the universe, carries his name. His treatment by Eddington is a standard case study in how scientific establishments suppress inconvenient results.
